PBZ LLC, the metal shop/manufacturing arm of Paul B. Zimmerman, Inc., has completed the manufacture of a new Kickout Flashing roof product that will not only be sold through the PaulB Hardware store in the Lititz/Ephrata area, but also wholesale to various vendors.

The product is a deceptively small and simple piece of metal added at roof eave to continuous wall intersections. Each single Kickout Flashing potentially saves thousands of dollars in future repairs. It's sometimes called a Kickout Diverter because that's exactly what it does: divert roofline water at roof eave to continuous wall intersections. Without it, rainwater flowing where the wall meets the
roof can eventually work its way behind the exterior wall cladding to cause moisture damage. The damage can build up invisibly for years in some cases, until it gets bad enough to begin visibly rot out the exterior wall. Its small size is the reason why it is such a commonly missed item on roofs.

The main advantage of the PBZ Kickout Flashing is its manufacture from long-lasting aluminum rather than plastic, as most Kickout Flashing is made from. The aluminum will provide a heavier product that won't degrade or crack from time and the sun's UV rays. It will also be available in a Powder Coated option in five different attractive colors, to blend with the existing house color scheme
and provide an additional layer of protection.

The price of the Kickout Flashing is an even more attractive feature: instead of costing more as one would expect, it is priced right in line with many of the plastic products currently on the market. It will retail to handymen who may need to repair their own roof from damage that has already occurred, and want to avoid future damage – or from someone who recognizes that a problem is waiting to happen down the road. It will be sold in volume discounts to contractors, and wholesaled to other retailers.
